Kifah Al Reefi Freelance Cartoonist and Illustrator Kifah Mahmoud was born in Basrah (Iraq) in 1962. He studied art from 1980 to 1985 at the Art Academy of Baghdad. In 1984 he drew satirical cartoons, caricatures and illustrations for the magazine Alif-Ba. Since 1988 he has ben editorial cartoonst for Al Jumhuriya daily newspaper. Between 1988 and 1992 he worked for Al Muharer weekly newspaper in Paris. From 1991 to 1994 he moved to Amman (Jordan) and worked for the weekly newspapers Shihan and Al Ahaly and for Ad Dustour daily newspaper and many other weeklies. Besides his newspaper work he has been active in painting, poster designing, drawing and book illustrating.
