The Autonomist is a popular but slightly controversial local paper, produced by a small group of mainly homeless local people and distributed for free in the Bristol area. They’re dedicated to reporting unheard voices in the community, but this principled stance has caused problems in the past. Although facing problems from the police, yet they refuse to censor reports. Their aim is to provide short news updates on local campaigns, and an extensive, up-to-date listing of local groups, spaces, and upcoming events. The paper used to be published at the house of one of the producers. One of the main reasons for the Autonomist’s popularity was the paper’s sharp edged stance and views on poverty and financial issues of their readers.

The fact that the Tories can’t even tolerate a local paper says a lot about our government. Why should a paper which had no business of propaganda or getting involved in issues concerning national security be closed down for no specific reason? By shutting down a local paper like The Autonomist, all the government has done is to silent the voice of a large group of caring local citizens who thought they can share their internal community issues with the rest of Bristol!

it is scarry, and confounding. It will always be the Haves againts the have nots. And the Haves will own the WEB pretty soon, if not now

Strange we always think that censorship happens.....somewhere else. But it can happen anywhere. Having been censored a couple of times I know the censors like to show muscle.Carry on regardless.

Strange to think that it says, "UK" in front of "police" on the boot! We don't do this sort of thing in Blighty... except that we actually kind of do and always have done.
