Quick sketches and portraits. Thinking that making art with AI is okay is like claiming that watching cooking videos is the same as cooking. While many people frantically search for the perfect Instagram filter, I sit on the bus with my drawing pen ready, staring at strangers. I sketch directly on-site, mercilessly analog, and without digital aids or an eraser. My victims usually have no idea. That way, they remain unselfconscious. Whether they are drinking coffee or mindlessly scrolling through their smartphones. Direct communication is rather unwanted. And that is exactly what I draw. My advantage: at my age, I enjoy a certain level of protection. Manfred Schloesser lives as an urban sketcher in Bremen.
