Belgian-born French novelist, one of the most skilled and prolific writers of detective fiction. Simenon is best known as the creator of Paris police detective Inspector MAIGRET. He turned out 84 Maigret mysteries and 136 other novels. Over 500 million copies of Simenon's books have been printed and translated into 50 languages.
